Kelechi Iheanacho scores against Manchester City in Dean Smith era

He was also urged to leave the club back in February and the club’s current situation could see the former Manchester City man take that advice.

He has attracted interest from Napoli and Inter Milan in the past but his lack of play time will have greatly affected any move to those clubs in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The same goes for German Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

It remains to be seen if Iheanacho would leave the King Power in the summer but there is no better time for the Nigeria international to make the move to salvage his club career.

Iheanacho, who came on at halftime for Jamie Vardy, almost had a second consolation goal late in the game but was denied by the woodwork after a fine effort.

It was his third goal in 13 games against the side who he scored 21 goals for in 64 games before his move to the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho could see himself relegated from the English top flight in the coming weeks as Leicester continues to put in dour performances.

It has been their poorest outing in the league since their return in the 2014/15 season.

The 26yearold is one of the players who could leave the King Power next season if they end up returning to the EFL Championship.

He has scored 41 goals in 192 Premier League appearances, which have mainly been from the bench. 28 of those have been for the Foxes, who he has been with since 2017/18.
