In his response, the ex-Naval boss stated “Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, the Accord Party gubernatorial candidate, wishes to clarify his position regarding the recent appeal by Mr. Murtala Yakubu, the SDP governorship candidate, for him to step down in the forthcoming election. While Mr. Yakubu’s request is duly noted, Vice Admiral Jibrin would like to emphasize that he will not be stepping down for Mr. Yakubu. Instead, he believes that Mr. Yakubu should consider stepping down for him, and he has compelling reasons to support this stance.
The candidate of the Accord party for the Kogi State 2023 gubernatorial election, Vice Admiral (Rtrd) Jibrin Usman has urged Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to consider stepping down for him on the basis of “compelling reasons.”
“In light of these compelling reasons, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin respectfully declines Mr. Murtala Yakubu’s appeal for him to step down as the Accord Party gubernatorial candidate. Instead, Vice Admiral Jibrin urges Mr. Yakubu to consider the broader interests of Kogi State and its people and to make the selfless decision to withdraw his candidacy in favor of a more experienced and capable leader.
“Vision for Kogi State: Vice Admiral Jibrin has a comprehensive and visionary plan for the development and progress of Kogi State. His policies are designed to address the pressing issues facing our state, from infrastructure improvement to healthcare and education reform.
Jibrin stated this in a letter signed by his Head of Digital Media, Emmanuel Iyede, where he responded to Ajaka’s earlier letter.
