September 21, (THEWILL) – The Kano State Police Command has lifted the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state on Wednesday.
The State Police Command, on Wednesday, declared a 24-hour curfew following the judgement of the State Election Petition Tribunal, which annulled the election victory of Governor Abba Yusuf and declared Nasir Gawuna, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the authentic winner of the March 18th gubernatorial election held in the State.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, directed the commissioner of police to lift the 24-hour curfew.
A statement by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Spokesperson of the State Police Command, said Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, lifted the curfew on Thursday evening.Gumel urged residents to go about their businesses peacefully.
