NYG: Edo continues impressive outing, wins 14 more medals

Team Edo has continued its impressive outing in the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Delta State capital, as the battle for supremacy gets fierce following another gold and bronze medals won in the female category of cycling point race on Thursday morning.

Godwin Osaretin of Edo who has smashed the record of individual time trials in both male and female categories won the gold medal ahead of her Kwara contestant, Atanda Damola Hikmat, and her fellow Edolite, Ogbe Divine, who won Silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the Tennis singles female category, a 12 year-old German-born Edo Athlete, Lorelay Hoizendorff Senglide, overcame her much older counterpart from Ekiti, Goodness Aina, in 6:3, 6:2 best of three sets to win the gold medal.

The Edo team had on Wednesday won four gold, five silver and a bronze medals as its quest for the top finish intensifies after day five of the youth games

Delta and Lagos states are currently leading the medal table with more games to be decided on Thursday and Friday morning.
