Benue killings: Presidency’s position affirms backing for armed herders ― Ortom

Even the person he endorsed for Governorship was rejected.

They know better than anyone else the true reasons for the situation in Benue.

On Thursday, Benue State Governor Sam Ortom alleged that the recent position expressed by the Presidency on incessant herders attack on communities in the state is an endorsement of the assailants actions.

Recall that following a newspaper editorial about President Muhammadu Buhari to task over the lingering killings in Benue, the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, had blamed the situation on the governor, who he said failed to heed a series of intelligence reports.

While listing measures taken by the Federal Government to deal with the Benue attacks, the presidential spokesman had said Instead, Ortom stubbornly refused to engage with the detailed, holistic approach clearly spelt out by the Federal Government.

He politicized every life lost on his watch.

So, thank God the people of Benue rejected him so roundly at elections.
