Kidnappers of Okey Wali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and former President of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, have not contacted his family six days after he was abducted in a bloody operation in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
The legal luminarys convoy was intercepted by yet to be identified gunmen in military camouflage who started shooting sporadically at his escort immediately they forced it to stop.
The gunmen killed two persons on the spot and injured policemen who tried to stop them from abducting the lawyer.
They eventually succeeded in escaping with Wali, their prime target.
A source close to Walis family confided that there is anxiety over the latest incident involving the senior lawyer because last weeks abduction was his second as he was also kidnapped in October 2014.
The abduction of Wali, who was also a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers State has raised concerns of about the prevailing insecurity in Rivers State.
Several concerned individuals and organized bodies have called for his unconditional release.
The President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Yakubu Maikyau on behalf of the national leadership of the body in a statement on Tuesday April 18 condemned the abduction of Wali.
