Chelsea are set to hire Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager after agreeing to terms with the former Paris Saint Germain boss.

Pochettino, who previously managed in the Premier League with Southampton and Tottenham, is returning to the league four years after being sacked by Tottenham.

He will replace Frank Lampard as the interim manager at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea coowner Todd Boehly seeks to turn around the clubs fortunes after a dismal season.

This will be Chelseas sixth permanent manager in five years after Boehly sacked Thomas Tuchel in September and Graham Potter in April.

Pochettino guided Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2019 and a secondplace finish in the Premier League in 2017.

Despite failing to end Tottenhams trophy drought that stretches back to 2008, Pochettino was widely admired by his players.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane recently bemoaned the change in the clubs culture since Pochettinos exit, saying, Its not the same.

However, he failed to make an impact in the Champions League, with a last16 capitulation against Real Madrid especially damaging to his reign.

Of course, there are many reasons why thats happened, but he was a big part of that.

Pochettino left Paris Saint Germain in July 2022 after leading the team to a French title in his second season.
