The Nigerian Navy has decorated 12 Master Warrant Officers (MWOs) with the rank of Lieutenant in appreciation of their exemplary performance.
They were elevated on Wednesday after the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo granted them Presidential Concessional Commission.
Gambo explained that the recognition was in fulfilment of his resolve to encourage hard work, commitment and integrity.
The CNS promised that the military arm, under his leadership, would continue to reward personnel who distinguish themselves.
Gambo said the Navy placed a high premium on human capacity development, with incentives towards enhancing human resource output for optimal operational efficiency.
The Navy Chief said in addition to incountry regular training for career progression and development, slots for comparative training are sourced abroad to complement local training.
To sustain excellence, the Navy activated the concessional commission provision in the Harmonised Terms and Condition of Service Officers 2017 (Revised), he added.
The concessional commission allows for outstanding Master Warrant Officers and above or equivalent to be commissioned as officers in the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
The spouses of the 12 personnel as well as senior Naval officers witnessed the decoration held at the headquarters in Abuja.
