He said that the earlier adjourned date of May 9 would no longer stand as it would not allow members to participate actively in the ongoing induction programme of the 10th Assembly.

This is to inform all members and the general public that the House of Representatives will not resume plenary on Tuesday, May 9, as earlier adjourned.

All inconveniences are highly regretted, he said.

Meanwhile, Peoples Gazette earlier reported that lawmakers threatened to impeach the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, accusing him of forging the houses standing rules in favour of his ally as his successor, Peoples Gazette learnt.

A source familiar with the matter told The Gazette that about 100 lawmakers had registered their displeasure at the development and signed a notice of impeachment on the Speaker.

The lawmakers alleged that Mr Gbajabiamila falsified the clause on the procedure for electing the Speaker and his deputy in the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives (10th edition).

The next adjourned date will be Tuesday, May 16.

This change is intended to allow members to partake actively in the ongoing induction programme of the 10th National Assembly.
