September 15, (THEWILL) – Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, is facing an injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s English Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Red Devils will be without Brazilian winger, Antony, who has been given a leave of absence while police investigate abuse allegations. His absence compounds United’s problems upfront after Mason Greenwood was released by the club over separate abuse charges earlier this year.
Upfront, Danish striker, Rasmus Hojlund, is also in line for his first full appearance after an impressive substitute cameo against Arsenal. The injury issues compound what has been a troubled start for Ten Hag. Despite winning two of their first four games, United have lacked cohesion and fluency. Defeats to north London sides Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal exposed vulnerabilities, while narrow home wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest came despite unconvincing performances.
Ten Hag earned praise for guiding United to a trophy and Champions League spot last term. But with growing unrest among fans towards the ownership, he needs an improved performance and result against Brighton to get the season back on track.
