September 14, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will play Saudi Arabia in a friendly match next month.
The match will take place on Friday, October 13, in Portimão, Portugal. This will be the first ever meeting between the two countries at senior level. The friendly comes a month before Nigeria begins its qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nigeria will host Lesotho in their first qualifier in November.
For Nigeria, the friendly provides an opportunity to test themselves against a Saudi Arabia senior men’s national team that is now being handled by the 2020 Euro-winning ex-Italian coach Roberto Mancini. Both countries will use the game to prepare for upcoming competitive qualifying matches.
The match against Saudi Arabia will be played at the 10,000 capacity Estadio Municipal de Portimão. This is the home ground of Portuguese club Portimonense.
