September 28, (THEWILL) – The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has nullified the election of Governor Uba Sani as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial poll in the State.
The judgement followed ruling in a petition brought before the Tribunal by Mohammed Ashiru, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 poll
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the poll, the PDP and Ashiru had, in a joint petition marked EPT/KD/Gov/4/23, among other prayers, urged the tribunal to nullify the victory of the APC in the March 18 poll over alleged irregularities, non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022.
Consequently, the tribunal declared the March 18 gubernatorial election in Kaduna State inconclusive.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had, in March, declared Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the gubernatorial poll after he polled 730,002 votes to beat his closest rival, Isa-Ashiru, who scored 719,196 votes.
