The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia has rejected the Labour Party’s challenge to the election victory of Deputy Speaker Rep. Benjamin Kalu.
The tribunal ruled in favor of Kalu, dismissing the petition for lacking merit. The petitioner argued that Kalu didn’t meet educational requirements and used different names on certificates.
However, the judge emphasized the burden of proof on the petitioner.
Meanwhile, a separate drama unfolded as another candidate, Mr. Ifeanyi Igbokwe, appeared in court to address claims of his name being used to challenge Kalu’s victory.
