The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is a prestigious program that provides financial support to international students who demonstrate leadership potential and outstanding academic achievements. The scholarship is awarded to incoming first-year undergraduate students who wish to study at American University (AU) in Washington, D.C. The program aims to attract talented young individuals from around the world who have a desire to make a positive impact on their communities and the world at large.

The Emerging Global Leader Scholarship covers tuition fees, room and board, books, and other educational expenses for the duration of the recipient's undergraduate degree program. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided that the recipient maintains a high level of academic performance and continues to demonstrate leadership potential.

Level of Study

To be eligible for the American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be international students who have completed secondary school or its equivalent outside the United States.
  • Applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 90 (internet-based) or an IELTS score of 7.0.
  • Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to community service.
  • Applicants must have a high level of academic achievement and a minimum GPA of 3.8 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent.
  • Applicants must apply for admission to American University as an incoming first-year undergraduate student.
