  • Have English language skills equivalent to those required for undergraduate studies at McGill University (i.e., IELTS 6.5 or equivalent); and
  • Have adequate funds available for tuition, living expenses, and transportation costs (proof of these funds may be required).

McGill University is one of the most expensive universities in Canada. It costs approximately $40,000 per year for tuition fees and other related expenses such as accommodation, books, and meals at on-campus restaurants.

In addition to these costs, international students are required to pay an application fee ($150) as well as a security deposit ($1,000). These amounts increase based on how long you intend to study at the university (i.e. if you want to stay for 5 years then the application fee would be $500 and the security deposit would be $5,000).

Lastly, there are certain optional fees that may apply depending on which program(s) you choose to enroll in while attending McGill University (e.g., lab equipment usage fees or computer software licenses). These fees are usually minimal but they can add up over time if you plan on utilizing them frequently during your time here so it’s best to check beforehand!

Requirements to Apply for McGill University Engineering Scholarships for International Students

To apply for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be an international student with no Canadian or Quebec residency
  • You must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a scale of 4) in your previous academic studies, including math and science courses
  • You must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
  • You must submit two letters of reference from teachers or professors who can speak to your academic ability and commitment to engineering as a career path.
  • You must submit an essay on why you are pursuing an education in engineering and how this scholarship would help you reach that goal.
