The University of Alberta offers fully funded scholarships to international students who are studying Medicine at their school. This means that these students do not have to worry about paying for their tuition while they are attending this university because the scholarships cover all of those costs!

How to Apply for University of Alberta Medicine Scholarships for International Students?

  1. Fill out the application form on the University of Alberta website
  2. Submit a letter from your school’s administration verifying your enrollment and GPA
  3. Submit proof that you have adequate health insurance in Canada
  4. Provide two reference letters from people who can speak to your academic ability (teachers or other academics are preferred, but administrators or other people who know you well will also do)
  5. Have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
  6. Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited university for at least one semester by June 1st of that year (i.e., if applying for a fall scholarship, you must be enrolled by June 1st of that year)
  7. Be an international student; students who hold citizenship in any country other than Canada or USA will be considered international students for purposes of these scholarships (this means permanent residents or temporary residents such as refugees would not qualify).

The University of Alberta offers a variety of scholarships to international students who are applying for admission into one of the following programs:

  1. The American Medical Association (AMA) Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate an interest in the field of medicine and have not yet decided which specialty they would like to pursue.
  2. The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate an interest in the field of medicine and have not yet decided which specialty they would like to pursue.
  3. The Dutch Foundation for Scientific Research (NWO) is a government organization that offers scholarships for doctoral research in any scientific field.
  4. The French Government offers numerous scholarships for students studying at French universities. These scholarships vary depending on your level of education and whether you are from an EU member state or not.
  5. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides funding for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and young academics who wish to study or conduct research in Germany but cannot afford it themselves due to cost of living differences between their home country and Germany. In addition to providing funding, DAAD also organizes conferences and other events where scholars can meet and network with other DAAD scholarship holders from around the world!
  6. The Arthur E. Dubinsky Foundation Scholarship: This award is given based on financial need as well as academic merit. The amount varies based on these factors; however, the average scholarship is around $5,000 CAD per year.
  7. The Dr. Jim McIntosh Scholarship: This award is given based on financial need as well as academic merit. The amount varies based on these factors; however, the average scholarship is around $5,000 CAD per year.
  8. The Sir William and Lady Ritchie Memorial Scholarship: This award is given based on financial need as well as academic merit. The amount varies based on these factors; however, the average scholarship is around $5,000 CAD per year.
  9. The Nucifora Family Scholarship: This award is given based on financial need as well as academic merit. The amount varies based on these factors; however, the average scholarship is around $5,000 CAD per year.
