About the University of Calgary

The University of Calgary is a public research university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is one of two universities in the city; the other is Athabasca University which specializes in distance learning. The main campus covers 200 hectares (500 acres) and contains six buildings with over six million square feet of space; it also has a lake which was artificially created by the university’s engineers for use as an ice rink during winter months.

Admission Requirements for International Students

International students applying to the School of Nursing at the University of Calgary must meet all requirements outlined in this document and provide documentation in English.

  1. Proof of English language proficiency
  1. TOEFL score of 90 or above, with no less than 20 on any subtest or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 5.5 on any band
  2. Proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and varicella (chickenpox) within one year prior to beginning the program
  3. Proof of a BSN degree from an accredited institution located outside North America or proof that a BSN degree from an accredited institution located outside North America will be completed by the start date of the program
  4. Two letters of recommendation from previous employers or professors
  5. A copy of your resume
  6. An autobiographical sketch outlining relevant personal and professional information such as education, hobbies, interests etc.

How much does it cost to Study Nursing in University of Calgary?

The University of Calgary is one of the most expensive universities in Canada. On average, it costs about $40,000 per year to study here including tuition fees and living expenses such as rent and food.

The application fee alone is $160 and then there’s also the cost of transcripts ($25 each) and other documents that need to be translated into English if they’re not already ($10 per page). These costs add up quickly!

On top of all that, there are also many other fees associated with studying at UCalgary including a mandatory health insurance premium ($1,500), parking passes ($200), lab coat rentals ($75), library fines ($5 per day), etc. All these small costs add up too!

So all in all, studying nursing at University of Calgary can be quite expensive depending on what program you’re interested in pursuing but it will definitely be worth it when you graduate with your Bachelor’s degree because it’ll help you get a job faster than someone who didn’t go to university at all!

The University of Calgary offers several scholarships to help international students cover the cost of tuition. These scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and need. Recipients will be selected based on merit based criteria including but not limited to academic performance and financial need.
  2. The Florence Nightingale Scholarship: Awarded annually to one or more outstanding international students who are pursuing studies in Nursing at the University of Calgary. The amount ranges from $2,500-$5,000 CAD depending on length of study (one or two years). Recipients will be selected based on merit based criteria including but not limited to academic performance and financial need.
  3. The Mary Janssen-Loomis Nursing Scholarship: Awarded annually to one or more outstanding international students who are pursuing studies in Nursing at the University of Calgary. The amount ranges from $2,500-$5,000 CAD depending on length of study (one or two years). Recipients will be selected based on merit based criteria including but not limited to academic performance and financial need.
  4. Foreign Student Scholarship – This scholarship is available for students who have not resided in Canada for more than six months within the last five years. The amount of this scholarship varies depending on your country of origin and how long you intend to study at UCalgary for; please see the website for details.
  5. Nursing Student Scholarship – This scholarship is available for students enrolled in a nursing program at UCalgary. You must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need to be eligible for this scholarship. Amounts vary depending on your citizenship status; please see the website for details.

Canadian Student Scholarship – This scholarship is available for students who have lived in Canada for six months or less within the last five years and are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from UCalgary.
