Elon Musk condemns Google, Microsoft’s approach to AI as he prepares to launch his own “TruthGPT”

Elon Musk on Monday offered new details into the purported launch of his artificial intelligence (AI) platform that he calls TruthGPT, which is meant to rival competitors Microsoft and OpenAIs ChatGPTand Googles Bard

Im going to start something which I call Truth GPT or a maximum truthseeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe, Musk said Monday evening during an interview on Fox News Channels Tucker Carlson Tonight.

TruthGPT might be the best path to safety, in the sense that an AI that cares about understanding the universe, is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe.

While accusing Larry Page, cofounder of Google, of not taking AI safety seriously, the billionaire also criticised Microsoftbacked OpenAI, the firm he cofounded in 2015 which is behind chatbot sensation ChatGPT, of training the AI to lie and said OpenAI has now become a closed source, forprofit organisation closely allied with Microsoft.

Its simply starting late.

In criticism of the AI chatbot trend, Musk noted that what was needed was a truthtelling platform.

The move is coming after a group of artificial intelligence experts and industry executives, including Musk, had signed an open letter urging labs to take at least asixmonth pausein developing systems more powerful than OpenAIs newly launched GPT4, citing potential risks to society.
